Joanna Gonzalez
Joanna is a senior with a big heart that she loves to show through music. She participates in almost every band opportunity that U-High offers and enjoys every variety. From marching band to solo competitions, she will always find a way to play. She even learned bass clarinet and tenor saxophone just to find opportunities that her clarinet couldn’t provide. Accompanied by her love of music is her passion for writing. Joanna often writes in the creative writing club at the school, focusing on poetry and short stories. In this club, she works with an amazing group of students to write, edit, and publish a book, Brome and Beyond, that is created every year. She also finds inspiration through the animals she works with while volunteering at Miller Park Zoo. While working, she will give speeches, take care of animals, and teach her audience more about the animals that she loves. She enjoys every part of journalism and sees it as another way to involve herself in the community around her. Although she initially joined to gain experience writing articles, she has discovered a passion for photography through the class.
