“U-High runs on Dunkin'”

Or at least that’s what the students are saying, according to junior Kaylee Birlingmair.

Open campus privileges lend themselves to coffee runs, and students are frequently seen carrying their 32-ounce iced coffee from class to class.

Dunkin’ Donuts seems to be the “go to” place.

The cheap price of $2.84 for iced coffee is what draws senior Danny Cole, along with juniors Leah Taylor and Kaylee Birlingmair to purchase their coffee from Dunkin.

For Birlingmair and Taylor the Dunkin run is nearly a daily occurrence. Both go to Dunkin’ Donuts three or more times a week. Cole is also a frequent flyer.

“I probably go at least two to three times a week,” Cole said.

Teenagers on average lack sleep and the caffeine helps them stay awake throughout the school day.

“It’s my lifeline. I don’t ever sleep, so I need it to survive,” Birlingmair said

This love of coffee seems to pass from one family member to the next.

“My aunt got me started with coffee,” Taylor said. “Every time I would visit her she would take me to Starbucks then eventually I started going on my own.

Birlingmair said she learned to love coffee by making coffee with her mom.

“I was brewed young,” Birlingmair said.

During the past year Dunkin raised the price of their large iced coffees from $1.85 to $2.84.  This has caused some students to downgrade from a large to a medium to save money.

However, this increase in price hasn’t changed the validity of Birlingmair’s tweet; U-High really does run on Dunkin.
